KLL has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Neelakantha Municipality and Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City. Both local governments are committed to creating open local municipal governments and KLL is assisting them technically in realizing this goal.
KLL will create new, easy-to-use and citizen-centered municipal portals for both municipal governments. One of the highlights of these portals will be the interactive maps and charts on which these municipal governments will make their annual plans and budget open to public for viewing, comments and critique. They will also portray project updates, as and when they happen, using this interface.
According to the MoU, KLL will also create a municipal mobile app, whose primary objective is to bring local governance closer to its citizens. The two municipal governances will also create open, digital map infrastructures of their respective municipalities in which KLL will help them with its technical assistance in training mappers and creating map data. Work in both municipalities have begun following the MoU. In Nepalgunj, work of creating the digital map infrastructure is underway. In Neelakantha, both web portal and mobile app have been soft-launched through a municipal-wide program (Dec 22, 2017).
